About Us

The Center of Innovation for Agribusiness focuses on technology-oriented companies in precision agriculture, value-added agriculture such as nutraceuticals and organics, renewable fuel biomass production, poultry, forest products and biotechnology. We connect clients directly to key resources, emerging technologies, university research, development and commercialization services – all streamlined and geared to increasing competitiveness. From applying technology to maximize yields and reduce costs to streamlining processes at packaging and distribution companies for bottom line impact, we operate at the speed of business.

Agribusiness is one of the strategic areas of focus in Georgia's Centers of Innovation (COI) program. Innovative companies with high-growth potential gain the competitive edge by partnering with COI. Each center, with direct industry experience and connections to high-value resources, quickly transforms ideas and potential into reality.

Areas of Focus

Precision Agriculture

Companies utilizing and developing precision agriculture technology are at the forefront of improving agriculture. Our team works closely with researchers, companies and individuals, accelerating the agribusiness industry via the use of variable rate application of water, fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides, as well as the use of broadband command control and monitoring.

Value-added Agriculture

Nutraceuticals and natural/organic agriculture are two areas experiencing explosive growth. One aspect of our work focuses on the global market and establishing connections for existing Georgia companies within the worldwide market for these products.

Bioenergy Feedstocks

Biofuel feedstocks begin with agriculture, so our team facilitates research, development and commercialization of these products for renewable fuel creation. We provide growers with technology guidance, connections and possible funding sources. Our clients also benefit from fuel industry contacts via the Center of Innovation for Energy.

Poultry

Georgia's poultry industry is a significant portion of the state's total agriculture picture; our team works with industry leaders to improve companies' bottom line by applying new technologies to cut costs and improve revenue. One example in the testing phase is utilizing wood pellets as a more effective method for heating chicken houses.

Forest Products

With over 24 million acres of commercially available pine trees, Georgia leads the nation in pine production. Our team works closely with the University System of Georgia's forestry programs to promote innovation and increase the value of our state's most prolific natural resource.

Biotechnology

Georgia's agribusiness community represents tremendous potential for bio-technology development. Ag-related biotech companies connect with the best and brightest researchers through the Center of Innovation for Agribusiness.
