Vegetable trucks taking the place of ice cream trucks

Children love to run to the happy jingle of the ice cream truck making its rounds on warm summer nights. In Detroit, a so-called “food desert” where liquor stores outnumber grocery stores 25-1, an innovative new concept is taking root. Peaches and Greens, a local produce grower in Detroit is bringing fresh grown fruits and vegetables to urban Detroit neighborhoods in converted ice cream trucks, where residents can line up to purchase produce in the same manner of kids lining up for popsicles and ice cream sandwiches.
