Sustainability Fair

Date: July 25
Time: 1:00PM til 6:00PM
Where: Agrirama, Tifton, GA

Learn how food and ag products can be part of a sustainable future for South Georgia. Demonstrations and talks on biodiesel, recycling, composting, suburban honesteading, re-building community life, and more. Peanut treats all afternoon! A round-table of local experts will discuss sustainable peanut farming. The event will culminate in an ethnic foodways barbeque and potluck. Co-sponsored by Georgia Organics, Georgia Peanut Commission, and the National Peanut Buyers’ Point Association.

If you come to the Georgia Agrirama for the Key Ingredients exhibit, you will learn about the agricultural practices and foods that were once common in the Tifton area. Also while at the Agrirama, be sure to go inside the giant peanut; inside this peanut is a great museum on the history of peanut production in Georgia. Visit Adcock’s, a wholesaler of pecans, to take home nuts, jellies, and other Georgia-produced foods. Several food-related festivals also occur around Tifton each year, including the Georgia Peanut Festival and the Grits Festival!
